Another important matter which

There no longer remains any necessity

which brought about this condition in

who visited the Expoiisition were imil

ing along this line, and(, t,herefore,
there could have been no 'im posit ioni

portions of the article that at, that time
the ExposItion was not comprlete. And
we do not think anyh'lo.ly who read the
artIcle was fooled. And If the e-litor
of the Observer reand the reports by
other conltemuporaries who were at thet
Press meeting hie must admit they all
stated that the ex position was not ready
in~ its comp3Ileteniess.
We can, however, see no good to
cOmie to the Observer, the pleopile who
readl it, or the Exposition, by cotinu
inig to try to prove that (lie ~x posItIon
was not ready whlen it. was openied.
Nobody has said It was, ari nobody hias
claimed it was.
In regard to the Observer opposing
the aippropriation by the Legislature,
we have, not its files at hand, but our
recollection is that not many Issues
back, wvheni the Obser'ver ad vertisoed
that thie Newbertry County exhibIt was
goIng to fail, the editor of' t,he Oh
server e xpres.sed thie opinion thatt lie
had thought from the first thart this
appropriatIon by the Legislature was
unconstitutional, arid, therefore, we
supposed he had opposed it from the
beginning, because we thoughlt it
hardly p)robable that lhe would advo

tlonal appr'opr'iation. We recall now',
however, thait at the time the ap)propri

the approp)riation in the Observer as

if the editor of the Observer says lie
favored this appropriation we are wil
ling to take his statement.
We notice from a statement from the
State Treasurer that not more than one
tenth of the State taxes have been paid.
ThIs makes it necessary for the State
to borrow money to meet the Interest
on the publie debt. Even with the peo
pie expeoting an extension of time fotr
payment of t,axes it hies been a good
many years sinee so small a percentage
of the taxes were paid by the end of (lie
year. If this is an indication of the
conditions in this State it is going to be
very important that every one shall be
eareful and economical during this year.
VThe feople of this county are in very
mu A better dondition, however, than
are the people of matny of the other
7 epunties of the State.

and never waited until popular senll

has the editor of this paper been the

It is a sad thing to see finc
fruit trees spoiled by the blight.
You can always tell them from
the rest. They never do well
afteiwards but stay small and
iickly.
It is werse to see a blight
strike children. Good health
is the natural right of children.
But some of them don't get
their rights. Whilc the rest
grow big and strong one stays
small and weak.
Scott's Emulsion can stop
that biight. There is no
reason why such a child should
stay small. Scott's Emulsion
is a medicine with lots of
strength in it-the kind of
strength that makes things
grow, .J
Scott's Emulsion makes
children grow, makes thcm eat,
makes themn sleep, makes them
p)lay. Give the weak child a
chance. Scott's Emulsion will
~ make it catch up
with the rest.
