At a meeting of the congregation of the I,uther,li Church of the lledeenter, this city. held Sunday morning, Rev, W. L4. Seabrook, pastor of Grace Church, Winchester, Va., was elected pastor. Rev Seabrook will be remembered by many of our people, having preached the baccalaur.-ate sermon before the gradutat ing class of Newberry College, at the Commenent in 1899. He is a native of Maryland and a ide scendant of staunch I,utheran stock on the side of both parents. lie was born in Frederick City, and though a leading law yer in Ialtimore city for several years, le is still a young man. Ile is a gradt ate of PentIsylvania College, Gettysburg, with the degree of batchelor of arts, and later received the degree of master of arts from the same institution. After graduation, he decided upon the law as his professiml and graduated fron the Maryland University with the degree of batchelor of law, and afterwards, on examination before the Superior Court of Baltimore, was admitted to practice in all the courts of the State. lie practiced his profession successfully for eight years, four of which he served as deputy attor ney general of the State. He then decided to preach the Gospel, and entered the Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, where lie completed the prescribed course in theology. He served pastorates successfully in Wichita and Abilene. Kansas, and four years ago was called to the pastorate of Grace Lutheran church, in Winchester, Va., where lie is now serving. He soon took a prominent position in the Southern Church, and is now Presi dent of the Virginia Synod, a nem ber of the Lutheran Publication Board of the United Synod, and of the loard of Missions, and a member of the executive committee of the laot named board.
