Morris' store through a hole In the hack door and helping themselves to what they might want. They had broken the glass out of the door, and when Mr. Morris nail ed boards over the hole they pulled otT the boards. All efforts to catch the thieves were of no avail, and abnut a week ago Mr. Morris set a shot gun in side the store fixed so that it would fiire towards the h'ole when the board was pulled. Only a very small charge was put in the gun. Early Sunday morn iug the explosion wa+ heard, and sever al men got there in time to catch a glympse of the llying little negro. The board was filled with shot and it is probable that the negro also received some in his body, though the charge r s not heavy enough to hurt him much. The negro was not caught, but it is not probable that he will com again. Since wiriting the above Mr. Morris has found the thief. Yesterday morni ing a negro woman camne down to see Mr. Morrie and asked him when lie would send for her son. She thought Mlr. Morris had stood inside the store and1 shot him.
