A few weeks ago several counterfeit half-dollar pieces were found in circula tion among the negroes in town. The local police force went to work and in a few days they had the assistance of a private detective of the government., and as a result Jim Irving and Thos. Greenwood, colored, were arrested on the charge. At Greenwood's house a complete set of tools and inoulds were found. After investigating the case Comiissionet Dominick released Ir ving and bound Greenwood over to the U. S. Court to be held in Greenville next April. His bond was placed at $1,000.
