Dr. Wyche served inl the Legis lature for six years in succession, thu.; showing the con.fidei:ce of his constituents. 'or 2veral vears lie vas chairman of the committee onl claims, and also served on the ways and ineans r-d the commit tee on mical affdc s. Ie assisted in sh1apiIg and pass inlg legislation that practically pro hibits Inter-state buin(iig and loan associations from doinlg business inl this State. Dr. Wyche was one of the lead ers, who, after a long and stubborn fight, succeeded in defeC-ating the bill providing for the refunding of one hundred thou.,Ad (lollars worth of bonds alleged to have been stolen from the State b.uik during , the civil war. Dr. Wyche alwa.- strongly sup ported the State Board of IIealth in their efforts to prevent the spread ing of infections and contagions dis eases in the State. He prepared and had adopted af ter a long and pe:sistent fight a rule that prohibits he introduction and consideration of numerous lo cal bills, relating to changing vot ing precincts, magi-trates and other county officers, requiring that all such bills he incoir)orated in one bill reported from the proper coin mfittee. The Newvs and Courier and other newspapers highly comnmended the adoption of this rule. Dr. Wyche inltrodluced a bill to prevent the adulteration of food products, medicine.., etc. , and the b)ill is now the statute law of the State. Dr. WVyche was a strong advo -vocate of biennial sessions of the legislature. HeI blieved, '"What South Carolina needs is, not more laws, but fewer and simphler laws, and obedience to law;."' AnIy bill intendced to protect the people from imipositionis and frauds always found in Dr. WVyche ani ar -dent and uncomlpromuising supIport *er.
