Saturday was the biggest day inl the history of Newberry's cotton mlarket.. It reminded us somewhat of '"eircus day." All the principal streets dulring the day were completely blocked and the police force were powerless to keep them open. Seven and a quarter cents cot ton brought, the people to tow n with the fleecy staple and our buyers were ready and willing to take it oil their hands. In all, seven hundred and two bales were brought in and sol-six hundred and ninety-two being weighed. '1'hero were people here with cotton from Saluda, Lexington, Laurens, Fair field, Greenwood and Newberry Coun ties, who ia(le their sales and left re joicing. There is no better market to be found t,his sea,son than Newberry and the people are fast finding it out. Since the very opening of the season the market hcre has been active an)d omt buyers have be en paying tip top plices. It will pay those wlo have cotton to sell to bring it to this lumtrket, foi be sides getting the top of the market, for cotton, our merchants have stacks of goods that will compare favorably and that cannot be excelled by any town in the State-and their prices arc as reasonable as any.
