There was a considerable frost last Thursday night. Mr. C. C. Davis is at work on the new house for the College. C. L. Blease, Attorney, offers several horses and buggies for sale. See notice. There was considerable hail in dif ferent portions of the County on Tues day night. The Jury Commissioner is engaged this week refilling the boxes from which the new jurors are to be drawn. The newly elected town council will hold an election to-night for the various positions to he filled by that 1 body. How would Hon. J. L. M. Holland and Judge J. B. Fellers are attending the Grand Lodge of the Knights of Honor in Columbia this week. Rev. Juo- H. Wyse, of Pomaria, was in Newberry on Tuesday. Death of Mr. Samuel A. Boozer. Mr. Samuel A. Boozer, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Boozer, of our town, died at his residence here on Saturday afternoon, leth inst., after an illuess of several months of consump tion, age.l 28 years. He leaves a wife I and one child. Death is always sad, but when the young, with the promise of many years before them, are stricken there is to us always a peculiar sadness about it. Mfr. Boozer was a young man of fine character, loved and respected in our community, the pride and comfort ofi his parents, and the stay and joy of his wife and little son. To those whot mourn on this sad occasion we extend 4 our sympathy. He was laid to rest in Rosemont cemletery on Sunday afternoon in the< presence of a large concourse of friends and relatives. It was a lovely April] day and our mind involuntarily went < back to such a Sunday afternoon three1 years agro when we laid to rest in thei seine city of the dead another of our young men. They have passedl over the river only a little in advance, and are resting in the beautiful assurance of a blissful Teachers' Meeting. The plan of operation of the organi :ation was discussed at length, and the ualowing resolution was adopted: Resolved, That a committee of seven >e appointed by the chairman of this neeting to prepare a declaration pre >aratory to a charter, and this corn nittee report to this body at a subse luent meeting. The chair appointed the following oommittee: W. E. Pelham, Geo. S. \fower, G. G. Sale, R. L. McCaughrin, [no. M. Kinard, J. M. Johnstone, and ). McR. Holmes.
