Dials, Sept. 19.-Phe Epworth
Leaguers of .this liplace delightfully en
tertained with a "kid party" Tuesday
evening from 8 to 11:30 o'clock. The
affair took 'place in the school build
ing, and nwas in the nature of a going
away party in honor of those members
who are leaving in a few days for the
various collegen throughout the
state. The auditorium was beautiful
ly decorated. The League colors of
white and yellow were successfully
carried out. In keeping with the "kit
party" idea, the guests came in chil
dren's costume and kept in mind the
words Qf the poet,
"Turn backward, oh, backward, time
in your flight,
And Make me a child again, just for
tonight."
Many youthful games and contests
were enjoyed, while music was ren
dered throughout the evening, and a
j6yful time. was spent iby all.
Refreshment,; calculated to please
all "kids" were served by Mlisses Ceciil
Owings, 'Sallie D. Brownlee and Mag
ale iD. Curry, after which the grand
march took place during which tie
judges made their decision as to the
young man and young lady most suc
cessfully carrying out the "kid" Ipart,
both in costume and manner. T1rhe

mons, and little Miss T. Craig Ilun
ter, both of whom proved very attrac
tive "kiddles". "IHome, Sweet Ilome"
was then played by the musicians, ev
eryone joining in with the words, at

evening festivaities having come to a
close.
A number of visitors from -tihe coni
mnunity were present and the Leaguers
were glad to welcome them, as well
as the following League mumbers of
other societies: Miessrs. Claud Willis,
of Green Pond; Arthur Wilson, Rufus
Wolff and Armstrong, of Shiloh.

enter Converse college, being a senior
in that college, while her brother goes
on to Virginia where lie will continue
his studies in -the University of Vir
ginia.

ville, spent several days last week
with relatives here.

pleasant vacation with his parents,
leaves in a few days for Nashvide,
Tenn., where lie will again preside
over the chair of English in Vander
bilt University.

treatment from Dr. I'. W. Carpenter.

The fire originated in a sinall vul
canizing plant in a rear wing of a
three-story building and was for more
than :10 .minutes smothered .between
the celling and roof, finally breaking
through to completely destroy tle
structuire. The .bmilding was occupiet
by Winglield's drug store, Illal t iwan
ger's, a fashionable woman's dress
shop, the Mlk's home, a small vul
canizin.g plant and a barber sliop. All
these bhusinesses were wilped out aind
incluidl ing the building itself, entailed
a loss of $250,000.

Court and Shiloh 1Epworth fleagues
held a joint meeting at Shiloh chmurch
Sunday afternoon for the purposc of
organizing the three leagues into a
disteict union league. The following

Cecil Owings. The meetings are to
be held in rotation, every thwo months,
