New York.-More than 7,000,000 gross tons of merchant vessels are re ported as being in the shipyards of the world, says a statement by Lloyd's Register. Compared with the total on January 1, the 7,080,766 tons, to be exact, represents a decline of less than 100,000 tons, nearly 1% per cent. The actual decline in shipbuilding activity has been much sharper in the past three rmonths than appears on the isurface, says tihe statement.
