Members of thn Corn Club in South Carolina prodinued last year 26,813.21 hillhels of corn at an a ve-ra;e cost of forty (('nts a hushel. the average yield being fifty-three blishlIs to i( acre. Figuring corn at $2.00 per otshel. which is conservative, the total net profit was $42.689.47. The total not. profit resulting from the Boys' Pig Club in the State was $13.99801. The total net profits of South Carolina farmer hoys in these two projects for the year was $56.187.48. There i9 an effort being made to more titan double fth iemabership of the Corn and I'Pig Clubs during pres ent yetl. Last yuar there were 1056 boys enrolled in Corn Club Work, of whom, however, only 601 reported; and 1,250 boys enrolled in Pig Clubs, of whom only 856t reported. To assure the success of the Corn and Pig Club work in South Carolina. the co-operatlon, encouragement and support of the publie-spirited citizens is necessary. For Instance, last year a number of bankers indifferent parts of the State hlped by offering prizes, and in tils way thousantds of dollars' worth of pure bred pigs were brought into the State, very materially adding to the breeding stock of hogs. One of the greatest difficulties has been encountered in. mupplying the boys with pigs. This splendid work of the farmer boys of South Carolina has formed a big contribution to the food supply of the country, and it is a work which offers opportunity for many public-spirlted people to letnd their aid. There will be more Pig Club boys this year if the pigs to sup Dly them are offered-or the money with which to buy pigs-and L. L. Baker, Supervising Agent of Boys' Club Work. Bishopville, S. C., who is in charge of the work in this State, will be glad to hear from any one who will aid the farmer boys in their effort in greater production of food.
