Now, we are not trying to urge all of Laurens County "to go into the Dairy Business", but we do know that Laurens County needs more cows and better cows: 1. To meet the high cost of living with plenty of milk and butter at heme. 2. To help the farm income by having some surplus to offer as butter, or as cream through the cream routes. 3. To start more Good Foundation Herds over the county to supply, right here at home, the unprecedented demand for cows. It does not take a prophet to see that tnis demand for cows is going to increase and is going to be hard to supply in the few years immediately ahead of us. We are sure that the Milch Cow is going ta do here just what she has done in the cotton states further west of us: She is going to help in the readjustment of farm plans and farm work and farm incomes, "When cotton is no longer King", as no other one thing can, especially for the small farmer. It does not take a prophet to declare that there are some splen did opportunities just ahe d for h'e farmers in Laurens county who are willing and ready )to pr .pare' themselves with some good Foun2dation Herd./ HERE' HE PROOF of our faith in the above statements and our willingness "to help any way we can". We will each set aside the sum of $1,000.00 to loan te responsible farmers, either farm owners or tenants, at 6 per cent. interest and on easy terms, to be used in the purchase of young registered cattle, under the direction of the County Dem onstration Agent. This loan to be extended for the purchase of not more than two cows, either sex, by any one farmer. This loan to be accepted strictly on condition that home-grown feeds must be supplied for these animals.
