MAXWELL MAKES WO IIIDUCTION Detroit Company Brings Cost of Tour. lug (ar Down to $595. I'lldoubtedly 011e of the most inter esting announcements for 1917 with regard to automobiles in the low Priced field comes from the Maxwell Motor cotmnilily, inc., of Detroit. This aninoulncemet is that the price on their toutring car and roadster is ma terially lowered. The touring car is reduced from $t15d to $5 the road ster from $635 to $5S0. I n this definite announcement of a substantial reduction in price the Maxwell company also announces that there will be no changes in the car. This conlilrls all previous ail nouncements that the Maxwell cur is now a standarilzed product. Walter E. Flanders, president and general manager of the M1axwell coinpany. and the able corps of engineering and nianufacturing experts lie has gath ered around hit, are convinced that their product has attaitned such a uini form degree of excellence that, the necessity for radical changes in do sign and cons tt'ctlon has been elitui miated. The change in .Maxwell prices be came effective July 1. In explaining the reason for the big reduction in I the price of Maxwell cars, the manufac turers declare that increased produe tion made it possible. 100,000 Cars for 1917. "The tnanufacturing cost per car has been greatly reduced by otur in creised production," said .\Mr. Flan ders. "Ottr plants at Detroit, Dayton and New Castle have been taxed to their capacity to supply the orders of our dealers. We have tmade arrange itents for the manufacture of 100,000 ('ars for this year, and we know froti the enlthsiastm with which our 1917 antnncent was teceiived that this nutter will lie disposed of easily.
