It was called ioney Knob then, but in I is it was moved to the place where It no1w stan'IS, close to a branch, called Long i-ancht, and was then named Long Branch school. In every way we are working for the aidvancemnent of our school, and next year' when we secure our new school house we will have one of tihe best schools in Laurens county. Among those who taught at this place wore some of the best educators of the coutntgr: Messrs. Rodgers, Neigh bors, Blackiweil, Birooks, Ciardy, Mad don, Kennedy and McMilan. Ini 1902 the school 'was united with Woodville and moved to a more central point. Miss Nettle Jones was the first teach er, followed 1)y Misses Sarah Cope Jand, I1illan 8mith IAtlie Armstrong, Eflla Belle Copeland; Messrs. Fuimer and flabb and the present teacher, Mrs. lHusUa Roper. The nresent school has eight grades. runs seven month and has anl enroll ment of forty pupils. A School Imi provement association has been or ganized during this session. Its of (leers are Mrs. F. V. Mahaffey, presi dent, and Mrs. L. A. Armstrong, sec retary and treasurer. We have rais ed $17.50 which we shall use for equipment. From a small beginning, the history of the Eden, school has been characterized by a spirit of pro gress. Situated in one of the best farming sections of the county, her people will keep pace with education al improvements and give to the chil dren of the community the advantages of a modern up-to-date building and equipment.
