Wo present to the courl W. It. Uolchor, Jesse Wolfe, Hob Wilson and Robert Ward and ask our solicitor to prosecute them." Solicitor Hill wasted no time after the presentment was issued. At his request Judge DeVoro Issued bench warrants for the arrest of the four men. The Krand Jury's action, which is without precedent in this County, came like a thunderbolt from a clear sky. The excitement attending the arrest of Fair, the attempted lynch ing, the trial and the negro's acquit tal had long since died down and *.ho whole affair was regarded as a clos ed incident. The grand jury's move startled Spartanhurg and has given delight to opponents of lynching. The negro Fair, it will be remem bered, was accused by a young wo man of near While Stone, the wife of a farmer, of having assaulted her in her home in the absence of all other members of her family. : Though she persisted in her story when Fall" was brought to trial, the preponderance of the evidence was that it was an hallucination on her part. Physicians who examined her testilled that they could find no evi dence thai she had been assaulted, and many negro witnesses testilled that while Fail' passed the woman's house he did not enter. Nevertheless Fair's acquittal in the face of the young woman's unequivocal accusation was regarded as epoch-making. Hamilton, Ont., Nov. 21.?While rel atives and friends surrounded a collin in which lay the hotly of a young man identified as .lohn Thompson) a victim of the recent storm on the Great Lakes, the real lohn Thompson rapped at the door and was admitted to the house. His mother collapsed and was made seriously ill. Young Thompson's father did not know on what boat his son was em ployed and when he road of the Und ing of tin- body of a .lohn Thompson, fireman on the lost steamer Carruth ers, lie went to Kettle Point and Iden tified it as that of his son. The body was shipped to the par ents' home in this city and prepara tion wer?- heing made for the funer al wl -ii the young man suddenly re turne very much alive.
