Mr. Earl Brooks, of Owings, spent Sunday with Mr. H. C. Shore and fam ily. Mr. Baxter Deshlelds will leave this week for North Carolina, where ho will engage In work this summer. Mrs. W. E. One thing is certain, a fire felt good. Mis. Lou Hunter is very sick at this writing. Her friends hope for an early recovery. Rev. Mr. Snow, of Greenville, preached at Mt. Pleasant Saturday and Sunday. He came to fill the ap pointment of Rev. J. A. Brock, the regular pastor, who Is holding a. re vival meeting in Greenville. Mr. Edgar Moore and brother-in-law, from Columbia, visited bis sister, Mrs. John Williams recently. Mrs. Mary Fowler Is with her son, Mr. W. W. Fowler, for this week. The sick one at Mr. A. B. Fuller's is improving. Mr. J. W. Fowler visited his sister, Mrs. M. E. Reld, last Wednesday. Mr. Tom Nell and Milton Boazman visited the former's cousin, Mrs. M. E. Reld, Saturday and Sunday. Miss Lena Madden, is In Spartan burg attending the commencement and will visit relatives while there. Some of the young people of Mt. Pleasant are practicing for the play, "Valley Farm". The actors are get ting along fine. They are trying to raise money to paint the church. Mrs. Mary Ann Holt passed nway fron? tbi3 lite and world. Mrs. Holt bad been very sick for several weeks but they all thought her to be better that afternoon. Mrs. Holt was in her seventy-sixth year, and had made her home in and near! this community all her life. She was' a woman that will be missed by all, especially by her children whom she loved so well. Sunday morning her remains were laid to rest in the Ra bun cemetery, Mr. W. A. Baldwin con ducting the funeral service. Eight children survive her. Mr. Gub Mahaffey and family of Lau rens visited Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ma haffey Sunday. Mr. Hoardie Owens and family of I Eden section spent Sunday with Mrs. Rebecca Owens. Mr. Houston Rabb and Miss All lei Babb were in Greenville Friday and Satu rday. Rev. Mr. Baggott not being present Sunday afternoon we had a good Sun day school lesson, and after that les son was finished, Dr. H. R. Stewart made a grand talk on the Sunday school lesson. Mountville, June 16.?On last Fri day evening Prof. Jno. G. Clinkscales, of Wofford college, delivered an ad dress, the subject of which he an nounced as "Babies", and after com paring the helplessness of an infant to the strength of the young of lower animals, clearly showed to his hearers to what unlimited' possibilities the mind of an infant might attain when properly nourished and trained. His address, while full of wit and humor, was thoroughly imperssive The election hold last Saturday to decide the issuing of district bonds, carried by a majority of 33 to 21, In spite of some vigorous opposition. Miller have is sued invitations announcing the ap proaching marriage of their daughter, Xellie Walker, to Mr. Samuel Brooks Goodman, to take place in tlte Baptist church at this place on July 2nd at high noon. Miss Miller is a popular young lady of many accomplishments and has been teaching in the primary department of the Mountville high school for the past four years, which position she has filled acceptably and well, as evidenced by the fact of her re-election from year to year; while Mr. Goodman has been "Uncle Sam's" accommodating carrier on Route No. 1 for the past six years, enjoying the good will and wishes of his patrons. Ths young couple wll begin tfieir journey together in life with best wishes of a host of friends and ac quaintances. Misses Annie and Sarah Fellers left last week on an extended visit to their sister, Mrs. Cydney Crisp at Grover, N. C. Miss Ruth Stokes, who has been teaching the past session at Denmark, Is at home for the summer. Mrs. Arthur Crisp, of Bogart, Ga., has returned home after a week's visit to her mother here. Miss Vashtl Fuller has returned home after an extended visit to rela tives In Clinton. Prof. E. A. Fuller attended the Neville-Spratt wedding in Clinton this week. Dr. and Mrs. J. II.
