Butter producers from all over the State are expected to send exhibit-' to the contest. Laurens has always stood well in this class and it is expected that a large exhibit will be sent from here. The following rules and sched ule of prizes has been sent out by the secretary: Hilles for Butler Seorlne Contest* As a special Inducement for dairy men to enter this contest prizes will be offered for the following classes of ! butter. 1st. Dairy Butter. Butter offered under this classification shall be such as is made, salted and packed by the dairymen from centrifugal separator cream and offered in the original package. 2nd. Farm or Country Butter. Butter offered under this classification shall be such as is made in any way, other than from cream obtained by the cen trifugal crc.rtm separator system. This contest will be governed by the following rules. 1. All persons who desire to enter this contest should make application at once to Prof. J. m. Burgess. Sec. of the Live Stock Association. Clemson College. S. C. for entry blanks, since all entries must be accompanied by the official entry blanks. 2, Any entry will consist of two of more one round prints of butter. $. The butter will be scored accord ing to the following standard: flavor 15, grain 25, color l?. salt 10, pkg. 5. 4. The butter must reach Columbia by 6. p. m. Tuesday. February 6th, and the scoring will be done Wednesday, February 7th. 5. No contestant will be allowed to be present while the butter is being scored, but the results of the contest will be announced on Thursday, Feb ruary 8th, at the morning session of the South Carolina Live Stock Asso ciation. The butter will remain on exhibition throughout the meeting of the Association. 6. Address the shipment to Mr. J. M. Burgess, Columbia, 8. C. 8hip by express prepaid. The butter to re ceive the highest score, should be carefully packed and wrapped. 7. The butter entered in this con test will become the property of the Live Stock Association to help pay the expenses of the contest. 8. Butter to be entered in this con test must be made In South Carolina and on farm of contestant. 9. No one will be allowed to make entries In more than one class. 10.
