The Laurens Singers Score a Success
in the Border Town, The Border

Singers.
Gathering Information from a num
her of those who attended the cantata
Ut Fountain Inn Friday evening, it
seems that the entertainment given by
the Laurens singers was successful iu
i very way and the hospitality shown
by tin Fountain timers was in equal;
proportion. The party of Laurens
people, about fifty strong, left Friday
afternopn in automobiles and r inched
the little city in time to partake of a
line picnic supper which had been pr >?
pan d for them.
Judging by the magnificent spread
that the Laurens people were greet
ed with, the Fountain Inn folks must
have thought that the singers were
mighty caters for it is said that they
had only prepared for about fifteen,
As it was though, there was more
than enough for everybody.
The cantata "The Nazarene" was
sung. This is the favorite one of their
party's repetolre and Friday evening
it was sung better perhaps than ever
before. A large audience greeted
them and everything went off well.
The receipts were divided with the
missionary society of the Methodist
church there, a nice little sum be
ing realized.
A number of the Laurens people had
not been iu Fountain Inn in several
years and they were very much struck
with the progress there. The beautiful
school building was especially com
mented upon.
The cantata party will most prob
ably make a trip to Woodruff at an
early date, and possibly they will uo
to Greenwood,
It is worse (ban useless to take any

Miss Young is a graduate ol the Green
ville Female College and since her
graduation she has been successfully
engaged in teaching in Spartanburg
County. She Is a daughter of Mr. R.
I! Young of this city.

Dr. ('. H. Coung, of Due West, stop
ped over ut dinner with Mr. and Mrs.
R. A. Austin last Saturday on his way
home from Baltimore. He is a student
at the medical university of Baltimore
with a view to missionary work in
Korea. He is just recovering from a
serious illness and an operation for ap.
pehdicitis. His friends hope his health
will soon be entirely restored.
The friends of Mr. W. M. Miller will
be glad to know that his health is
improving. After spending several |
weeks at a sanitarium in Atlanta, he
is now with relatives in Georgia. He
is with Dr. .1. F. McGowan, ai Kuhar

doing him good.
The Daughters tif the Confederacy
here gave a dinner last Saturday to
the veterans. Quite a number were
present to t njoy the good Illings pre
pared by the Daughters.
Mr. Dave Black bail the misfortune

animal is worth about $10.00 and will
be hard to replace at that figure.
Miss Nannie Goodman, who has been
telephone central at this place, has re
