Anderson. Anderson. October 10.?Cotton re ceipts here today reached 270 bales. During an hour or so early In the day 14 cents was the prevailing price, but later went to 11 I-1. Much cotton held back Saturday because of the heavy rain was marketed today. Draiichvllle. Branchvllle, October 10.?Receipts of cotton today about .*?(? hales. October 10, -The cotton market was somewhat quieter today, in so far as the number of hales sold as compared with last week. There were 05 hales offered and readily bought at prices ranging from 14.06 1-1 for the lowest grade to 14.20 for the highest. The farmers, merchants and business men of Florence and this section ap preciate no little the effort put forth by The News and Courier to nivc to its readers daily the report of the va rious cotton markets throughout the State. It shows that Florence buyers i re paying as much and more for the fleecy staple as buyers In towns In Eastern Carolina, and often more than the mill towns of Western or upper Carolina towns. Local cot. tun sold at 14 cents here today through out. but. on account of the bad weather and condition of the roads, resulting from rains, sale.: were very light, only about 30 bales being sold. Spartnnburg, Spartanburg, October 10.?Cotton sold for 14 cents today. There were but few bales brought to the city and lor these the largest price of the sea son was paid. Walter Jatnieson, the 1 1-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Jamieson of the Lauren? mills village, died Sunday night tu 11 o'clock at tlie- home of his uncle, Mr. I). A. Watkins. near Shiloh. He was sick only thirty six hours having been attacked Saturday afternoon with something like cramp colic. The lad lived with his parents in Laurens and had gone out to Shiloh a few days before to spend a while witli relatives. He was the only son, and was a promising youth.
