Neuffer of Abbeville pre sided over the meeting which was op ened with prayer by the Rev. e. L, Fowler. He expressed his gratification at the fact that this meeting was more fully attended than any previous one. Miss ICmmn Snyder of Mncon is vis iting Mrs. Phillips. Little I'M Owens, who fell from a tree last Tuesday and was severely hurt, is better today. Mrs. I). W. L. Mason, who has been sick for a month. Is still quite sick. Miss Jessie Mahaffey entertained a few friends on Friday evening. Miss Irene Prince of Anderson, teacher of the second grade in the graded school. Is with Mrs. Neville. Sept. 12.?I-ast Thursday was a gala day Kt the Thomwell Orphanage. Everything was garnish ed and set in order for toe entertain ment ni' the Presbyterian Sabbath school of Kock Hill. And a little after eleven o'clock lite special irain orlnglng tin* visitors drew Into the station and about three hundred men. women, and children streamed down Broad street, under the guidance of Messrs Tom Scott. J. I. Copclnnd, L. 1!. Dillard, A. M. Copeland, and other friends in Clinton to thp chapel of the Thomwell Or phanage where Dr. Jacobs and the orphanage family were gathered to receive them. A fft?V words of wel come, responses, and a koiik composed the exei'CUses; alter which the visitors spread a sumptuous picnic dinner on improvised tables in the grove In front of Gordon cottage. Owing to the Inconvenient schedule they were forced to accept from the railway companies they were obliged to give the institution only a hurried visit and had no opportunity to ob serve the system in operation. But, though their visit was disappointingly brief, they were heartily welcome and it is hoped that another time they will he able to stay longer than two hours in Clinton. Clinton in general and the Orphan age in particular feel that Hock Hill Presbyterians have paid (hem no small tribute in paying nearly $:?00 for less than three hours in this garden spot of South Carolina.
