Quite a large crowd attended prayer meeting at Mrs. Lottie Osborn's Sun day afternoon. Mrs. B. Stone and wife spent Sat urday night and Sunday with Mrs. E. F. Langston. Revival services closed at Chest nut Ridge last Tuesday. Rev. Mr. C.rey did some good preaching, which re. suited in six additions to the church, live by baptism and one by letter. Revival services aro being held at Trinity church by tho pastor, Rev. Mr. Du Rose. Miss Bessie Hudgens of Laurens is visiting in our section. Mr. Friday of Union is visiting his Bister, Mrs. Jeff Davis. Miss Maggie Hudgens of Barksdale Is visit inn Mrs J M. W. Watts. Mr. Kclley Howell and family spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. Barnette and family. Messrs Claud and Herman Hoyd have returned from a visit to rela tives at Fountain Inn. Mr. Don Brwln entertained the Royal Ambassadors Saturday afternoon. Quite a large crowd was present and all had a pleasant time. He claimed to have done more for tho upbuilding of the State than any other man In the :ace. Ho has stood for colleges, high schools, the rural schools, the State university, Winthrop and Clemsou. On the question of support Mr. Rich ards stands for the maintenance of the Institutions, therefore no taxes can be reduced In this respect. In the refunding of the Stnte debt the taxes can bo reduced. Mr. Richards told how by business management the debt may he refunded from II to II 1-2 per cent. There Is Inequality of taxes. Mr. Richards said the small owner is bearing the burden. On the whiskey question Mr. Rich ards said he had been consistent on the prohibition question. Mr. Blease referred to his work for the higher educational institutions and common schools of the Slate. He thinks the taxes are too high. Mr. Blease twitted the other candi dates on their change of front. " Lot Charleston vote for a license sysiem if her citizens want it," said Mr. Blease, "but let not the bar room system re turn in this State." He said he is consistent. "If I am not elected governor of South Caro lina, a prohibitionist will he," was Mr. B!ease's prediction. Mr. Blease received much applause.
