Crook correspondence of the Anderson
Intelligencer:
"On Sunday morning, 5th instant, at
10 o clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
J. N. Shirley, a beautiful marriage was
solemnized, it being of their daughter.
Miss Lizzie, to Mr. Thomas R. Jones
Rev. R. W. Hurts performed the cere
mony in an impressive style, joined and
united them in the holy bonds of ma
trimony for future life. Only a few of
their near relatives and friends were
present to witness the nuptial tie. Af
ter the ceremony and usual congratula
tions, an elegant dinner was served.
Miss Shirley is one of our sweetest
OUllg women, being loved by all who
new her. She possesses a very pleas
ant disposition and will be greatly
missed in our midst. Mr. Jones who is
from Ml. Gallagher, Laurens County,
is one of the leading young men of his
community and a successful young far
mer. He is fortunate in securing for
his companion through life the young
woman ho selected as his choice. We
extend to them our hearty congratula
tions and wish for them lots of sweet
happiness through the pathway of life."

special representative of the American

Senator Tillman's Illness.
Some three weeks ago Senator Till
man returned home on account of a
break down in health. It is reported
that he will go to Philadelphia this
week to consult two famous nerve spe
cialists. The Senator's condition is said
however to be in no way alarming. He
is simply not improving rapidly and the
object of the Philadelphia visit is to be
on the safe side.
A Delicate Operation.
Tho nineteen-months-old son of Mr.
Perry Wright, machinist at Pacolet
mills, has been dangerously ill with
membranous croup.
A few days ago Dr. H. R. Black as
sisted by Dr. Kirkpatrick, performed
the operation of inturotion?inserting a
gold tube in tho child's wind pipe and
applying anti-toxin.
The operation was a successful one
and the child is on a fair road to recov

Mr. Wright's friends in this city will
be glad to know his son is improving.
