Miller are at tending the annual meeting of the South Carolina Pharmaceutical Asso elation/which met yesterday, at the Isle of Palms, Charleston. Messrs. J. T. Machen, J. M. Wood, W. H. Bagwell and M. B. McCuen, of Princeton, were in town yesterday. As a committee they were looking after business matters pertaining to the Princeton Baptist Churoh, Mr. R. F. Fleming, Jr., was seized on last Tuesday night with an acute at tack of appendicitis and his condition has caused groat uneasiness to his family and hosts of friends. Mar tin gave thoir eldest daughter, Claudia Arlana, in marriage to Mr. Edward Douglas Lomas, of Columbia. The marriage took place at the home of the bride at Youngs, in the presence of a few friends and relatives, the Rev. Mr. Parrott, officiating. Immediately af ter the ceremony an elegant supper was served. The gifts to the bride were numerous and handsome. The parlor where the ceremony was performed, was tastefully decorated with cut dow ers and pot plants. The bride was beautiful in a gown of organdie, while the groom wore a street suit of black. On Thursday morning the happy cou ple loft for a visit to tho family of Dr. Hope, of Macon, Ga., a brotherlnlaw of the groom. After their return they will board at 1,618 Assembly St., Col. umbia, S. C. Mrs, Lomas, as Miss Mar tin, was much admired for her lovely traits of character and kindly disposi tion, and has drawn to hersolf a large circle of friends. Pitts returned Thursday from Chapin, wlwo on Wednesday he officiated at the marriage of Miss Pearle Barnett, daughter of Mr. and Mr. David Barnett of that place, and Mr. James E. Kennedy, a rising youog business man of Chapin. Shortly after the ceremony the bridal couplo left for a visit to the St. Louis Exposition. Mrs. Kennedy as Miss Barnett is well and popularly known here, the family having resided in the city up to a few few years ago. Major M. II. Ferguson. Tho Advertiser has received a long letter frdm its valued friend, Major M , H. Ferguson, giving quite an interest ing account of his recent trip to the Reunion of the United Confederate Veterans at Nashville. For tho lack of space the letter is crowded out. Notwithstanding tho excessively hot weather, good congregations attended services at the First Methodist Church on last Sunday. In the morning the pastor preached on "Religious IndifTer onco." In the evening his subject was "The Parable of The Rich Fool." Miss Dudley, of Montana, sang a sweet s >lo at each service. Everything possible is being dono to make tho congrega tion comfortable at this Church during tho hot weather.
