Ferguson, who 1? pre siding here over the equity court this week, is a former Newberrian and is among bis friends . He taught school several years in this county, and many a man and woman is wiser and better for the instruction and training re ceived at his handg. Col. Ferguson married a Newberry lady, Miss Mary Dorroh, a daughter of Dr. Win. M. Don*oh?the father and daughter are both dead. Col. Ferguson began the {>raotlce of law at Laurens soon af;er eaving Newberry and has been emi nently successful, ?and is regarded as one of the safest and soundest practi tioners at the bar in South Carolina." Notice To Subscribers. For some reason or other subscribers to The Advertiser have been slower in paying their subscriptions this fall than ever before in tho life of tho pa per. At a recent meetiug of Chest out Ridge Ohuroh, the following resolutions were passed : Whereas, the Rev. B. J. Wood ward has severod his connection with us as Preacher and Pastor, to go to other Heids of usefulness in the service of our common Mas'er. Be it therefore resolved? 1. That it is the sense and feeling of Chestnut Ridp.o Baptist Churob, that Bro. Woodward!* loss to us is almost ir reparable, and that it is with deep sorrow and regret wo yield to his deoision in this matter. 2. Ho has greatly endeared himself to us as friend, Brother, Pastor and true Preaohor of righteousness. 3. Wherever directed ho has our love, prayers and best wishes, praying the groat Qod, tho head of the church, go with him and his, blessing thorn, and giving him physical and spiritual strength to labor long in the service of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in which ho so much delights, until the suminoas, "It is enough?oome up higher." 4. The Clork is hereby instructed to furnish Bro. Woodward with a copy of these Resolutions, as evidence of our love and appreciation of services rendered is our midst.
