Fourth Contest. The 'composition judge awards the prize for children h jtwoen 12 and 14 to the writer of the composition entitled Thanksgiving, a pup'1 of the Princeton school, of whloh Mr. 0. L. Moseley is tho teacher. The next prize of one dollar Is open to all children under 10 yoars old. This gives the renl little children a chance. ?Tho Thanksgiving composition is written in'a ueat, good hand and tho grammar, capitals and punctuation are generally correct. The chief merit of the composition, as compared with others, is its original thought. Compositions were sent in as follows: Ono from Princeton, ono from Ml9B Martfn's school at llaploy, ono from Mlas GenaHonry's school at Mt. Olive, two from Mrs. McSwaln's classos in the Cross Hill School aud two from Miss Maud Tillman's grade (tho Fifth) of the Liaurens City Schools. It has boen easy enough to pick the winner in this contest. The Pilgrims from Miss Tillman's school, Cotton and Iceland from Mrs. Mt-Swain'a and the Discovery of America from Mies Mar tin's are all qulto creditable; about . equally so. Itislntonded to publish all these and the winner's, provided the names of tho writers are sent in, next wees:. Tho names should be pent promptly. Nono would be published . that was not regarded as worthy, and It Is due tho children that they receive public credit for what they have dono. So teachors will pleaso send the names.
