A special to The State from Chester says : The ''educational campaign" so prevalent through the state for the last year, together with the increase of school population in this growing town have made necessary the building of another school house for the accommodation of the cro^'dR of children now attending the Chester graded school. For that purpose the contract was receutly given out to Mr. Joel It. Simril for the sum of about $8,000 ; tho total expeti iliture for fitting up the building will be about $0,000. A remarkable occurrence in the last lew days is the death of two young men, natives of this county, though one not a resident at his death, at the same age, 32 years. Mr. C. II. Brennfcke, Jr., (iied at Birmingham, Ala., on the 20th inst, He was in the tele graph service at Holly Springs, Miss., was on his way here to spend Christmas, and was taken suddenly and seriously ill at Birmingham. The other death is that of Mr. Thomas I). Wallace, a worthy young man of Rossville township. Rev. Charleston, Dec. 2G.?Oliver A. Schlosser, 30 years old, proprietor of the Milladale nursery and expert landscape gardener, who came to this State from Massachusetts, has mysteriously (lis sappeared from his home in Greenville. lie left there on Dec. 15, promising to return in three days to meet his business associates and has not been heard from since. Some of tliein fear lie has met with loul play, as his business was apparently in excellent | ii ;t pe. Ameriens, Ga., Dec. 2G.?A destructive storm passed over litis section Friday. On the McNeil farm several houses were de stroyed and one man was killed by flying timbers. On the Lar tor plantation, next to McNeil's, a windmill near tlie house was blown down and one man killed. neverai tenaut houses were de strayed. The plant of the Willis Oannirg company near hero was blown down. On the Jubai Morris plantation every tenant house was destroyed. More than a dozen mules were killed by stables falling on them. Barnwell, Dec. 21?At Klein*, a station on the Southern nine, miles from our court house, an awful tragedy was enacted last evening when the lives of two of our men, Mr. J. T. Hogg and Mr. Ben Jeukins, were snuffed out. It seems that there had been bad blood between the two men because of a suit involving certain landH owued by the latter and last evening at a school eutertaiuinent at Kleins the two met, hot nuiun wore paHHBU, wnen 1118 JHttei drew his pistol and shot the former four times, when in turn the latter was shot with a shot gun and instantly killed, whether by the former or by others cannot now be learned. The former lived through the night but died early this morning. The detai's surrounding this tragedy cannot be obtained at this time. The coroner has left for the scene to bold inquest. The family of the latter have retained Hon. G. Duncan Bellinger, who has gone to Kleins to be present at the inquest. Hanged Himself With a Towel. Philadelphia, Dec. 22.?Chas. I). When arrested Fenstonmacher was employed as a bookkeeper for a (ii m of commission merchants Postal Inspector Uolde^nays his crimi nal record extends over a period of 30 years. His plan was to mail letters to farmers in various sections of the country through which he secured large consignments of produce.
