Koss, Clarendon, Iowa, briefly writes about his happy experience with Painc's Celery Compound as follows:-? " It gives me great pleasure to testify to the merits of Painc's Celery Compound. I can Candidly and honestly say it is the best medicine in the world. Two years ago 1 was suf- 1 fering from indigestion and nervousness, and Waa so run down that 1 could hardly walk Without help. I used two bottles of Paine's Celery Compound and got better almost from the first dose, and have bad no use for medicine since. I was completely cured." A Topeka, Kan., Juno f>?The! dead in the lopeku flood now numbers seventy-eight. ()i tinnumber thirty-nine are reported dead 011 good authority. A boat.' man this afternoon reported that seven bodies iiad been tound near eud of Harrison street. The unfortunates were: Mrs .fesseSiiaw and four children and a man ami woman named Shunkwerter; all from Sherry. The body of a man named Ed-j wards was picked up near Soldier Creek. < )l her bodies found today were those of Mrs. Nelln ( Watson, Mrs. Minnie Prayerand George McDonald. These were caught in the wreckage. People working in the Hooded district fear that many more w<ll be found drowned as the Hood recedes, and that the list of dead will not be far from one hundred ' Thirty or more people are now j classed as missing. Without doubt some of the bodies will never bf j recovered. The water has now receded over j six feet and is going down at a rate of an inch every hour. Good work is now being done to rescue what property is loll. In the part of town north and west ot the Rock Island Bridge the damage is very great. The houses were mostly small and in the full torce ol the current. The yards were swept clean of outbuildings and many ot the houses turned a quarter ot the way around and partially slipped from their foundations. Further east the outbuildings are nearly all gone, but the houses are still standing. A few blocks west ol Kansas River some of the outbuildings are still standing and over towns are scores and scores of out. buildings in all sorts ol positions. The small houses which were in the full torce of the current are about the onlv ones which were wrecked from their foundations. The greater part of North Topeka is a great waste ot sand piled up over the streets, houses, floors and railroad tracks, burying the city from a mere coaling to a aepni or iwo or inroe, ami in some places, four feet. All over tbe west part of the cify the sand banks are every where. The I nion Pacific and the Kock Island (racks are covered with them in places to a depth of three feet and in places the water is still under the ties. Door yards are '}.r piled high with sand. On some of 1 the bouses it reaches the windows and is banked up against the 1 doors. 0B ev " " * * ' 00 THE RAGING MISSISSIPPI. re St. Louis, Mo., June 7.?Like a mill race the swollen Mississippi is surging past St. Louis with a stage of 34.9 feet tonight, makiug a rise of one and one half feet in the last six CT0 hours.
