Sensational developments came to light this atternoon in the inw vestigutiou ol the w holesffie grave robberies ttiat have occtn red ""in this vicinity during the last few ^ moot Its. Today detectives un ^ earthed 10 bodies i" the cellar ol the Medical College ol Indiana. A gang of 10 negroes was arrested several days ago charged with the ghoulish work and tin iileader, Itulns Oantrell, since his arrest has confessed to many ol ?he robberies .and informed the authorities that others have been operating in cemeteries in this and adjoining counties, and that many ol the robberies accredited to his following really have been committed by others. 1'e >ple who recently have buried relatives in various cemeteries uie greatly ex-'iled and since the developments ol the last few <1 ays many graves have been reopened to see it the caskets have been tampered with. Invesiiga lion in several of these cases has $ revealed empty caskets. Every ;tl?dical college in this city has been thoroughly searched lor the stolen b'dies, but to no avail, r bodies were found in a pick :ng vat. at the Medical College of Indiana, ?he offi ials of this inetitnilon proving they had been lawfully obtained and assorting that thero were no other bodies about the buildings. Detectives went lo the college today with a search warrant lor (he body of Wallace Johnson, which had been stolen from (ho grave in the Ebenezer cemetery, northeast of the city. The col lege < llicials were reluctant to allow them to make tho search. The detectives, however, insti tuttd a rigid search of the build ing and as a last resort, raised tho tloor in ttie cellar. They soon uncovered the remains of 10 bodies. An attempt had been a made to destroy tho remains with hii>H The college officials are very indignant at the latest phase in >4 t he situation ainl claim the ^ bodies unearthed today are those of subjects dissected by the students of last year ; that some ol theni are cadavers which were in the dissecting room when the building was burned siveial years ago. The detectives claim the bodies have been recently buried, and that the evidence of <}uick lime is very apparent.
