Twenty-seven years ago Mrs. Samantha Ambergris, a quiet, modest; seamstress residing in Walnut Grove. Ill, was sewing a button on her husband's trousers. Stanley Hall, of Clark University, has been studying the alleged almost total absence of insanity among negroes. He believes it is because, being newer to civilization, the race lias not run through so many different and crucial experiences as the white race. President Hall can get some invaluable inforraamation from Dr. Babcock, of the South Carolina State Hospital for the Insane. He will probably discover that insanity, almostunknown among negroes in slavery days, is now increasing at an alarming rate.
