The pension clerk is busy making out the revised pension rolls for the further action of the stale board of pensions next week. It was announced yesterday that while there would be a considerable increase in the total number ot pensioners on this year's rolls, the increase will not be as large as was expected. Many names have been dropped by the state board from the lists sent in, and there are about 250 that will be taken off by reason of the death of the pensioners. This is a much larger annual death rate than has heretofore been prevailing, and shows in cold figures how rapidly those who helped to fi<rht the south's battles are passing awav. ?The State.
