Charleston, Dec. 12.?The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Masons in South Carolina reMimed work this morning at 11 o'clock at the Masonia Temple. The report of the committee 011 jurisprudence opened an interesting discussion of the relations bet ween a chartered lodge and a 1 >dge under dispensation, working in the same territory. The point was ably argued by expo i ents of opposing views, and the -miestion whs finally submitted to the Grand Lodge in the form of a motion to adopt the minority rel?ort of the committee which sus ' lined a ruling made by the Grand Master. By the close vote ?;f lOO to 87 the minority report was adopted. The effect of this i? to give to a chartered lodge tincurrent jurisdiction with a lodge under dispensation in the territory which, by charter, would belong exclusively to the latter. - The favorable report on the jitht of a subordinate lodge to elect officers by viva voce vote where there is but one nomina lion for a place was adopted. The report of the committee on jurisprudence as a whole was then adopted as amended. ki.kction of offickrh. The hour for election of officers having arrived, the Grand Master railed for nominations and the election proceeded. The following were elected: Grand Master, Orlando Shop pard. Deputy Grand Master, W. M. "Whitehead. Senior Grand Warden, John It. Bellinger. Junior Grand Warden. F. E.! Harrison. Grand Treasurer, Zimmerman j Davis. Grand Secretary, Charles In g.esby. The Grand Senior Warden was elected by unanimous vote from the sta lion of Junior Grand Warden and the Grand Chaplain was unanimously elected to remain in the office to which he had been ap pointed b}T the Grand Master. The only contest was for the office of Junior Grand Warden, lor which there were two nomi news, F. F. Harrison and A. S. ltowell. The former received 107 out of 192 votes cast. The committee on charters and dispensations submitted its re port. Among other things, it win recommended that the char ior of Summerville Lodge, No. 233, be revoked, and that the Master and Secretary of the lodge bd authorized, for a period of thirty days, to grant dimits to members in good standing. The report was adopted. Deputy Grand Master White head, as chairman of the committee appointed to prepare a suitable testimonial for Past Grand Mrster Witherspoon, an nounced that the committee was ready to report and made presentation of a handsome gold watch, appropriately engraved. The Grand Lodge and the lady visitors, accompanying the dele trates were entertained this afteri oon at Chicora park by the Charleston lodges. From 324 illustrations in 1894 to over 1600 in 1900 are the tig i.res which denote the numerical growth and development of the pictorial feature in The Ladiea' Home Jonrnal in eiz years. This 110 per cent, increaae in numbers i< rather dwarfed by the fact that i.early 1000 per cent, more apace ia now given to pictures than six y*art ago, and that the quality, or artistic value, of the iilnstra i ons has improved beyond computation. A few years ago maga zine making was thought by some to have attained a degree of petfection that prec'uded further 4 advancement, hut it seems t<> have been in its infancy.
