Death of .Mi*. Thurlow Mayer.
A telegram wa* received hero
yesterday from Charlotte announcing
the death in that city
of Mr Thurlow C Mayer, formerly
of this place, but for some
years a resident of Charlotte
The dispatch gave no particulars
of his death Mr Mayer was a son
of the lato Andrew Mayer, and
was about 30 years of age, and
unmarried Ho was a young
man of gonial disposition, pleasand
manners, and leaves a large
circle of friends and relatives to
mourn his untimely death Tho
following brothers and sisters
survive him : F M Mayer, of
Camden ; M C Ma}'er, of Charlotte
; Mrs W D Lemmond, W
McF Mayer, Mrs M F Jones and
Miss Maria Mayer, of Lancaster.

The Cotton Market.
The government report on the
bale yield of this year's crop was
posted in the Cotton Exchange

It places the crop at 10,100,000
bales. The market broke imme
diately about 50 points, but re
mained several points during the
afternocn. Yesterday morning
Liverpool was off about 21 points
in our money, and New York
opened at 9 33 for January, went
down to 9.09 and closed at 9.21
for that month. Spots are bringing
9.25 on this market.
