Death of An Ayttl Mai<1en Latty.
Miss Sarrah Carter, an aged
maiden lady died at her home in
^ the Dry Creek section, on Thurs
day night at 12 o'clock of paralysis.
Miss Carter was a member,
of the Camp Creek Methodist
Church, and was a good kind
chisttan lady. Her remains wore
interred at Camp Creek Ceme^
tery yesterdav at 3 o'clock after
fnneral services conducted by

Death of Mre. J. Tho?. Hunter.
The many friends of Mrs. J.
Thos. Hunter will regret to learn
of her death early Tuesday morning
of fever. 8he had been sick
for tome weeks and at one time
there were hopes for her recovery
hut the death angel did not spare
this noble life, and she went to
meet her reward. Mrs. Hunter
was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
'Geo Bell, of the Tank section of
the county and was universally
loved by all who had the good
fortune to know her. Early in
0 life she joined the Camp creek
Methodist church and from then
on was a devoute Christian
womaa. Her reataios were

buried at Camp creek cemetery
at 4 o'clock Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Hunter leaves besides her
husband six children to mourn
her loss and the Enterprise join
in with a host of friends in ex
pressing heartfelt sympathy for
the bereaved husband and mother
less children.

Death of a Good Colored Woman.
Maria Colbert a good colored
woman died Wednesday. She
lived with the family of the late
Judge G. McC. Witherspoon, and
was faithful to the end. '-Aunt
Maria" was full of good deeds,
and was kind to all. She was
devoted to her church and died
in the faith and has gone to her
reward. Peace to her memory.

Mr. M. M. Johnson, of Goldthwiate,
Texas, is visiting his old
home here. Mr. Johnson was
raised in tlie Dry Creek section
of this county, and when a young
man he married and moved to
Georgia, where ho resided for
about 29 years, and from thence
he moved to Texas, where he has
been living ever since. This is
his first visit to his old home in
about 46 years, lie was greatly
surprised at the changes that has
taken place during his absence.
Though Mr. Johnson has lived in
two states, he still likes old
South Carolina the best. Mr.
Johnson went to Heath Springs
Thursday to visit friends in that
section.

Depot Destroyed.
The 8. C. G. E. depot, at
Yorkville, was set on lire by light
ning last Sunday evening about
7 o'clock and destroyed with
nearly all of its contents. No
one was there when the fire began
its work and by the time it was
readied the whole roof of the

Hobbs broke in and saved the
books and the tickets and what
money was in there. The ice
house ju3t across the railway was
also burned. The loss is estimated
at about $1,000 and was
covered by insurance Messrs.
Bruce, Dougherty, Nutting and
Maxwell officials of the road were
there Monday. A temporary
depot has been built, and a new
one will be placed on the same
spot also a passenger dspot will
be built nearby, in a grove of
oaks. The track was not, in way,

many licenses taken out by liquor
