Mr. Ligon in a series of sorvices in his pastorate there and near Chesterfield courthouse. ?Irvin Clinton was sentenced by Magistrate Caskey to pay a fine of $15 or serve 30 days on the chain gaug for stealing a . bushel of corn from Poag & liar per's mill last Saturday. He took the 30 days. ?A protracted meeting will begin at Douglas Presbyterian church on next Sabbath, 5th inst., at 11 o'clock a. m. The pastor will be assisted by Kev. Jos. H. Wilson of Bascomville. Perry, a native of this county, died Sunday morn ing last at 7 o'clock at his home near Blackstock, after a lingering ' illness of more than a year cauted , by an accident on the G. C. & N. railroad. Mr. Perry was about 54 years of age and was twice married. ; His first wife was a daughter of Dr. McLerkin,of Chester, and his last was Miss Sharpe, of Forsythe, Ga. He leaves besides the last wife, four children, two by each wife, the two oldest of whom are > about grown; also a brother, Mr. j L. J. Perry, and one sister, Mrs.; M. L Clyburn, both of this county. > Mr. Perry entered the Presby terian ministry about twenty five \ years ago and up to the time of the accident which resulted in ] his death, devoted his talents to j 1 that work. I Professors J. S. Newman, Wtn. S. Morrison, M. K. Ilardin and A. J P. Anderson, all of Clemson col lege, arrived here Monday night, ' and yesterday morning went out ^ to Jones X Roads to the first ? meeting of the Farmers' Institute c of this county where they ad dressed a large crowd of people, j all more or less interested in ag- \ riculture, and the kindred sub- | jects discussed. They all re- t turned here last evening, and t this morning they will go to Tab- 1 ernacle where they will be greet- 8 ed by probably the largest crowd they will see at any of the meet- r ings in this county.
