Allison, the supreme court has sent the case back for a new trial in the circuit court. Narrow Escape of Col. Springs' Itwelllng. About half past one o'clock Wednesday morning the alarm of fire was given and the community rushed out to find that the res ideuceof Col. Springs was on fire, or had been on fire, for the fire had been put out before many got there. When the alarm was given Ool. Springs jumped out of bed and started to his front door to locate the fire little dreamiing that it was his own domicile that was about to go up in ashes and smoke. When he got into the hall he discovered that his house was afire. He rushed out there and began throwing water upon the fire and soon several others got there and in less than five minutes from the time the alarm had been given, the fire was out. Nothing but prompt action could ever have saved i he property, for everything favored rapid combustion, and the tlames were reaching from the ground at the rear steps almost to the roof, and they looked exceedingly angry. But fortunately the fire was ai' on the outside surface except in some latice work and window blinds, and consequently the prompt action against it was successful. The fire started from a bucket I kii Nniittn mat tnw uuun carelessly Isft on the steps after taking then from the stove that evening. It was discovered by some par ties who were returning from a tish fry at Landsford. The loss is fully covered by insurance. A singular coincidence in connection with this fire is, that some yeare ago when Mr. H. (1. Mcllwain was living in that house it was discovered to be afire at the rear. The fire started from a pan of ashes just as this one did, and it was discovered by some parties returning from a fish fry at Landsford, as this was, and ? i < i ? - * <i do lit me name Hour 111 the night.
