This country is ereatlv interested in increasing its trade with C ina as well as establishing a trade with the Phillipines as soon ' as the war there is ended, which, in all probability, will not he a great while. A niulti millionaire of I'r.ila delphia, a man closelv identified with, and largely interested in, the manufacture of cotton fal> ric?, stated to our Col. Springs the 1 other flay some startling facts in regard to the increasing trade in cotton goods manufactured in j this country with foreign coun tries. Among them he said : In. 1S03 this country exported cotton goods to China to the amount of only $4,000,000. In 1 SltS, the ex j ports of that class af goods from 1 this country to China rea< hod the handsome sum of $10,000,000. a fourfold increase in five years, j "And," said he. we are just now getting started in that business. The increase from now on will he much greater than it has been for, the past five years. We clip from the Decern her Review of KevieAs the following article hearing upon thi? subject : !
