C. 1 Ewart, he introduced Professor r Morrison, of Clemson college, who > spoke on the subject of plant life. The weather bureau at Columbia gives out tome interesting facte about the weather, the heht, the cold and the dry weather, as fol lows: The hottest day this year was July 15th when the thermometer reached 105 degrees. The coldest day this year was 1 degree below zero. The summer has been remarkably hot ahdj)ry, the winter was unusually wet and cold. When the growing season began irt March there was an excess 61 5 inches in the rainfall. The rains continued till about the middle of April when the excess ol rainfall reached 54 inches. The 'dry spell" then began. The average rainfall between March and September is 25.75 inches. This year it has been only 16.30 inches. There have been 84 days since May 1st when the mercury ran over the 90 degree mark. Five days in June showed a maximum ot 100 or over. It was abnormally hot in July.
