Our crops, which have been so promising, are suffering for rain, and have boon cut oil consider ably?upland corn especially. Mr. Augustus Williams, of Shel by, N. C., visited his parents the past week, Mr. and Mrs. J. II. Williams. Mr. George T. Marks, of Steel Creek, N. C., visited relatives in Dixie and New Cut the past week. Mr. ,D. V. Hinson, of Jacksonham, spent Saturday and Sunday in Dixie. Mr. Ililliard Duncan and Miss ! Eugenia Riddle, of Dixie visited] friends and relatives at Hell Town i last week. Mr. II was so carried! away with the beauty of a house that lie concluded lie would haul it in a buggy, lie succeeded ad-1 mirably ; but on his return lie found that his huggv was somewhat damaged, but not seriously. Mr. W. T. B. Duncan and children are visiting Iriends and rela lives at Heath Spring. Big meetings are all over now and everybody is lni?y with work. t Sorghum making, picking cotton, pulling fodder, etc , seems to be the order of tin- day.
