Columbia. June 14 ?The penitentiary
investigating committee
resumed its work here yesterday.
The feature of the pension was the
receipt of a letter from Senator
Tillman. Among the matters inquired
into was a report that

Mr. Stevenson a?ked whether
it was true thet officers of the
penitentiary of a hither trade
had to pay part of rhpir salary to
Ool. Neal in consideration of re

it was not true as to himself and
he didn't believe there was any

gressraan Latimer about the

ly asked for the bill, but Colonel
Neal never sent it. The case was
made for his wife and he had no ,
1 idea of getting it for nothing.
