I copy from a newspaper for edificatian of your nutjKrouR readers the following paragraph : 4kA single fly it unmolested front the beginning of the 11 y season, win prouuce through itself and its successors in a single season, the almost unbelievable number of 2,080,320." Now if this is a fact, why are people in this country so apathetic and indifferent to tins disgusting and dangerous nuisance? Surely it is ignorance, for it is the decided opinion of all eminent men in Europe, that flies disseminate disease, and this 1 believe every thoughtful person who considers the subject will conceive most probable. Here is an 1111 pleasant illustration, watch a fly settling on the most diabolical filth imaginable; mark him next in your "dinnplate or on the food, with its unwashed feet and yiuuuaeis or swimming in your cup of coffee : or see him coming, from a sick room where there lies one bfllicted with (a contagious malady, such as the small pox for instance, and thus spreading that tearful disease, can anything be more dangerous or ghastly ? People don't think enough, or they would kill every lly. I was talking to a farmer the other day on the subject, who apparently wa^ apparently unaware or did not object to half a dozen fites that were playing leapfrog or some other gymnastics on his bald head, he said that for every lly I killed two came in its place. l| replied what do you say to bed 1 bugs, mosquitoes, tleas and knats?' lie said he would kill all these and take the risk ; he had small faith in his arguments; as well might he tell me that if I killed the only rooster in my yard, twoi ??i-~ u:_ _i T* ? I am quite aware, that there are tangle foot papers! old, but these as a rule are too expensive for every household. What we waqt is something cheap and effective, then it will be within reach of all. Why are flies sent?
