A bill to repeal the agricultural
lien law was stubbornly fought
in the legislature (house) last
week and was defeated by a small
vote.
The house has passed a bill re
pealing the anti-free pass bill. '
They passed the same bill last
cession, but the Senate did not '
think that war. They may not
^gree with the house this time.

A majority of the house id in
favor of repealing the law against
free passes, but thay voted dowu a
amendment to prevent the receiving
of mileage by those who
may accept passes. It is thought
that if the senate passes it, it will
be with that amendment.

A Mid-Winter I'ltion.
On January the 23, al ter three
or four hours driving aver the
rough ami rocky road hot v. eon
Lancaster and the historical Tax
ahaw, we arrived at (Jharlesbornugh
Baptist church, where the
Moriah Union was to convene.
We found the Union already
in session with Rev. J. 15. 15ozcman
in the chair as the moderator
had not vet arrived.
The names of the churches were
then called and the namos of the
delegates enrolled. About this
time thero wero considerable commotion
in the audience, and as
we looked to see the cause of this

our beloved moderator coming at

a hugo valine in the other and his
heart beating a* if he had been
chased by his Satanic Majesty.
The introductory sermon was
then preached by Key. K. Wells,
John. 4,39?42. Theme?The converts
helpful service. It was an
able sermon, full of the Word and
fraught with helpful advice to
those who wished to bear testimony
that thoy had been with
Jesus. The I'nion \.as then led
ni prayer by Uev. A. Watson.
After a recess was taken for one
hour. We then repaired to tin'
