See their ad. for pr>ces. -From the Charleston News and Courier we learn that a book contain itaing a history of Kershaw's brigade 'is being prepared by a Charleston gen tleman,and is almost ready for publi etion. This book should be in the hands of many a Fairield person, for airdeld ws well represented in that brigade, and-the book will doubtless be grmatly ,n demand all over the State. -Mrs. Huhes, who was tried last week in Greenville for the murder of her husband, is out on a $1,000 bond and will be free until May, when she will be tried again. This trial has created the deepest interest all over the State and the result of the new trial in May will be awaited with interest. During the trial Mrs. Hughea seemed to have no anxiety as to the outcomne. --Work has been commenced upon the lot on Main street where Mr. G.LA White is to erect astore. The - % idn will fill up an unsightly gap between the store occupied by Porter Bros. and that af Mr. 6. A.:1 White, and will be an ornament. It ~'would be a good thing If ethers would follow Mr. White's example, so that some of the vacant lots on Main street] would be bhnilt up. * -The Charlotte Observer says that Rev. Johin Chalmers'and Mrs. Chal mers are visiting relatives in Fairield. Mr. Chalmers will be present at the meeting of thes A. R. P. presbytery,] and will be a most welcome visitor, as he has many warm friends in Winns boro. For;some time past Mr. Chal mers has been quite sick but is re-] covering, and hopes soon to be en tirelyiwell. -A negro has recently been caught near Rock Hill in the act of throwing rocks at the windows of a passing train. It seems that the negro had] -been at this dangerous work before and the, authorities were on the look out for him. He was lodged in jail in Yorkville. It is a pity that the person] who has several times thrown rocks at trains near Winnsboro could not be discovered. Such malicious mis chief should not go unpunished. ] - -A terrible rain and wind stormc aceomnpanied by thunder and light ning occurred on Tuesday afternoon. The day had been sultry and warm 1 and the storm was expected, but the telegram from the weather bureau predicting a heavy frost was a sur-( prise to all. After the storm the temperature dropped many degrees,] and by Wednesday morning there was a plenty or ice to be seen. The high] wind which blew all night prevented .frost.
