TmE was vhon the bean crop of
Western New York ranged from twenty
to thirty bushtls per acre; but several
farmers say it will not be over 8 or 9
bushels this year. One field of thirty
acres, very carefully fitted aud cultiva
ted, gave only between thirteen and
fourteen bushels per acre. Auother,
near the highway, which was thought
as promiting as any, only turned ten
bushels per acre. Several hundred acres
were destroyed by hall in the town ol
Caledonia, York and other towns; many
fields were injured of using too much
seed, caused by the weevil scare about
planting time.
