A PPI.RN AR oob.-Very te*, proba bly, understand the nutritive value and the modicinil properties of good apples. To have them the most valu able they must be eaten as food, as part of the meals-not at night, per haps, lest this last meal or lunch should be too heavy. The fact that some have subsisted on fruits for a conalderable time Indicates that they have a vital nourishment not yet appreciated by the chemist. This is a etaple reaIly the most valuable in use among us. more valuable in sickness than any or the foreign fruits, most of which save the dried-must be plucked be. fore they are ripe, in order to reach us before decaying. An since these may be kept for most of the year. or until tho early berrAs can be obtained, we may inler that it has a far wider range and more extensive use than such as seem to be Intended for a tem porary or medicinal use, as one of the means of preventing, forestalling and aiding in the eure of summer or hot weather allments. To have these the most valuable, they must be ripe-as well as all fruits-and riot decayed. The unripe of all fruits, in addition to the fact that they contain really less nourishment than the ripe, must prove injurious to health, from the presence of acrid Juices, more or less poisonous. I may add that when the juice o lthe apple Is preserved, as it easily can be by first boilling the sound apples and then bottling or canl nling, it is rolliy valuable in sickness -as iuch so as wilaies-thougli, of course, if well kept, not intoxicating. since no fruits, in their natural state, contain taIcohiol, and since the boiling process arrests the fernentive process by which It iny be produced. Such may be used with advaittage in most eases of proslration, after lurnishing aill needed nutrition and yet not tax Ing the digestive process, as such juices, like water, en ter the circulation without the usual disgestion. LixS ir TUM TEA Kv.TmA.-Every good housewlie knows that an Iron kettle used for heating water that. holds lime in solution, will lit a short thne become coated with that sub stance. Having had numberless inquiries fot advertis1ng cards from ladies In all parts of the country who are interest ed in the prevailing fashion of making "Card Collections," we are having printed for them a set of seven beauti ful cards each in six colors and on a gold backgr'ound, in the-very highest decree of art, iliutratingShakspeare's "Seven Ages ol Man," We have spared no expense in these cards-they are simply little art gems. Our only aim has been to publish the finest cards yet shown. Applications for them have come in so rapidly that nearly the whole edition Is engaged before the receipt by us of the cards from the artist. We have therefore been obliged to adopt the.following plan for the dis tribution of the remainder: No more of the gilt Shakapeare cards, seven in the series, will be sent excepting upon the receipt of a statement from a grocer that the person applying for the cards has bought of him on that day at least seven bars of Dobbins' Electrio Soap, with price paid for sane. All apply Ing in thi manner will receive the I ull se& of seven cards gratis by wail. This will insure us that our friands and pa trons get theitr share of these beautiful designs, although It In no matnuer re pays us for the costof the cards. Your grocer has the soap or wili get It, atnd tae purchase by you of seven bars of it at one time will secure for you gratia seven really beautifui cards. The soap improves with age, and is an article of necessity in your house every week. Therefore you are not asked to buy a useless article, but one that you must have any way. Please send us your application at once, and tell your lady friends making "Card Collections," to do the same. Urocers do ntot have the cards to deliver.
