Sunday School every Sunday at 10 o'clock. Seats free. Mr. Joseni Groeschel has shown us several books of sheet music, the bind ing of which he has done with his own hands. The work would do credit to a regular book-binder who had served his apprenticeship. Israel Byrd, Hlenry Johnson, Isaac Purcell and John Martin I These are the four fools whom the Radical ne groes want to send to Columbia to make laws. Can the Democrats of Fairfield submit to such a thing? Henry Johnson owes much to e the white people of Fairfield. His vile and intlammatory talk to his negro followers In the days of Radicalism would have cost him his life in any Northern"'community. He must be careful now. Henry Johnson is the negro who did all he could in the past to stir, up bloodshed in this county, and ho is doing the same thing noew. The law abing citizens of Fairfield will keel) their eyes onl him. If he causes trou ble by his incendiary tulk, he must expect to suffer. Let the Deimocrats of' Fairfield, and especially of W1riinsboro, bear in mind that Hlenry Jolmson and Isaac Purcell, two of the Radical nominees for tho lose, are mechalnies Vlo have beeni naking their living out of the white people, an(d who no dollt nl ow have D~emocrat ic mioner in t he'ir pockets. If the Democracy proposeO to furnish a livelihood for twvo such chiaracter's, they deserve to have. them for 'law mnakers. The brute eane running up to the house of Mr. Tid w~elI, living nmear Major Woodward, and pushinig through tihe door coni tinued till lhe camne across a negro woman-in a field near by. H~e sprang at her and tore her clothes considera bly, but s'he fortunately escaped wilth out b~eing bitten. The dog then ran to the yard of Mr. W. A. McDowell, and was within a few steps of that gentleman when he drew his pistol and. fired, killing the brute instantly. THE RADICAL CONVNT ION.-TheC Radical County Convention met in the hall of the colored Odd Fellowvs on Thursday, and continued In sessioni all day. The following nominations were made: -For Senator-Israel Byrd. For Rcpresentatives--Honry John son, John Martin and Isaac Purcell. There wvere no nominations of county officers. The Greenback State ticket was endorsed, as was also Ab salom Blythe tile Radical nominee for Congress. The convention was comn posed entirely of negroes, amnd all the nominees are the same. As soon as the negro convention ad Jouriled, Mater Woodward organized a Demnocratie meeting, and made a r'ousinug speech, which excited great enthusiasm among the Demiocrats present. Addresses wore also made by Messrs. HI. A. Gaillard and G. HI. McMaster. Tuxjj Gn1EE~NunIERL CrB.- At the last meeting of the Greenbrier Democratic Club, the followli'mg preamble and resolutions were ainaimously adopt ed: Whereas, our President, Maj. T. With this knowledge, we will endeavor to sustain him with our best efforts, assuring hin that In the future, as heretofore, lie can always dopend on the Greenbrier Club fow any work lie may have them to do, and that we will continue to follow his "red-shirt" with the same confi dence that wo have always done. 2. AN Ex'rnAOn1N-.tRY CONFESSON. In anl inlerview with a reporter of the Philadelphia Times on the day after the election Gov. Foster said - "Yes, I agree with you that the tariff question and the business scare were worth several thousand votes to us, but inl this State we would never have tioight of either it' it had not been necessary to get hold of a new issue, and the idea was put into our heads by Eastern men. Two weeks ago there wis no talk out here of either free trade or danger to business interests in case liancock was elected. WeC found the card a strong one to play. The blood% shirt was of no use to us." This, we believe is the first instance in the history of party politics where tihe chief engineer of the successful par ty coolly antd calily acknowledged, on the morrow after election that the vie tory' had been won uipon a cold lie anmd a sham. -The American Manufacturer' says John B.
