The Democratic County Executive
Committee met on Saturday, and re
solved to call the County Convention
for the last Saturday, being the twen
ty-ninth day,-of May. The official call
will be published in a few days.
A NEGRO GATuEIIINQ.-The Radi
cal negroes of this ':otinty held a eoi
vention in tlho court-house on Monday
for the purpose of sending delegates to
tWe State convention. The first fight
was over the county chairinanship
the candidates being Joe Thompson
and Prince Martin. The former was
elected by a vote of twenty-two to
twenty. The next thing in order was
the election of delegates to the State
convention. iAumber of nominations
were made, and the following negrocs
elected: -Israel Byrd, jrince Martin
and George Jones. After PTince Mar
~tin's election, Andy Stewart, one of
the delegates, intimated In strong lan
guage that the convention had disgrac
ed itself-alluding, no doubt, to the
fact that Prince is a convicted thiet.
No instructions were given to' the'
delegates. It is understood that Israel
Byrd is for Blame, aind lid will 'doXsbt
less control the delegation. In the
