Whitman, tile new pas tor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, arrived in town on Saturday last, and officiated regularly on Sunday. We welcome him to our community, and wish him abundant success in his new field of labor. All should recollect that with the loss of health, loss of enjoyment and happiness soon follows. FinRE.-About eleven o'clock Christ. mas mornig tihe alarm of fire was sounided, caused by the roof of th( store hlouse formerly occupied by Mr. W. [I. Donly and adjoining tihe resi dence of Mr. U. J. Mcoarley being in flames. The firemen were promptly on tile spot, and succeeded in extin guishing the flames before any serious damage was done.
