Miss Sallie Timms, both of this county,
were united in the holy bonds of mat,
riimony by Trial Justice Robertson on
Sunday evening last.
Messrs. J. E. Cathcart & Bro. will
please accept the thanks of the office
for some very fine oranges. They
have just received a large assortment
of fruits and confectionaries which
they will dispose of at a very low rate.
Givo them a call.
We are pleased to see the police at
lired in handsome blue unforma,
The appearance is very attractive, and
the change reflects credit on the Coun.
cil. Capt. Gilbert and Lieut. Williams
are both fine looking officers, and they
attend failitilly and promptly to their
onerous duties.
Rev. G. W. Whitman, tile new pas
tor of the Methodist Episcopal Church,
arrived in town on Saturday last, and
officiated regularly on Sunday. We
welcome him to our community, and
wish him abundant success in his new
field of labor.
All should recollect that with the
loss of health, loss of enjoyment and
happiness soon follows. A cough or
cold quickly undermines the health,
and should be checked by the prompt
use of Dr. Bull's Cough Syrup. For
sale by druggists. Price 25 cents a
bottle.
Our office has for several days been
without a "rudder," both of the
editors being off on Christmas frolics.
They left in opposite directions, anld
no doubt Imaginle each other in hlar
ness at home. We commend them te
tihe charitable public should they get
lost in their travels.

by Mr. C. K. Rabb, who broke ninc
bails out of tell; tihe second by Mr. W.
U. Doty, and the third by Mr. D. V.
Walker. We would gladly have pub.

FinRE.-About eleven o'clock Christ.

sounided, caused by the roof of th(
store hlouse formerly occupied by Mr.
W. [I. Donly and adjoining tihe resi

on tile spot, and succeeded in extin

damage was done. The roof took fire
from sparks 'wilie a colored womar
was cooking a turkey in the yard.

And now while I shall leave for a

good people of this town, hoping that
the next pastor, the Rev. L. S. Praleur,
may say the same. Thanks to the
