Half Pint of Whiskey, Worth 25 Cents, Results in $100 in Fines. Aiken, Oct. 27.—Yesterday in the police court a half pint of cheap booze, worth a quarter, caused a fine of $2r» each to be placed on four young negroes. A white man went to a negro named Lucius Johnson, and Lucius went to Harry McClain, and Harry went, to Mack Green, and Mack went respectively to a negro named Grant, who furnished the goods, which again went round the circui- tous route and reached the purchaser, and by that time Constable Samuels grabbed the white man, who said he got the stuff from Johnson, and John son said he got it from McClain, and McClain alleged that he got if from Green, and Green vowed that he got it from Grant, so the mayor put thirty days or $25 on each of them for violating the dispensary law.
