He is com pos mentis and his duty will be no greater than is performable by his ability. C., July 16th, 1908. Capt. J. B. Bell, Gaffney, S. C. Dear Sir:—It has been reported around Gaffney that Capt. I. M. Smith and myself are not on the very best of terms. If you remember this same report was started just before the last election In this county. The fact !<> this report has no foundation and was evidently started by some little two-by-four politician in an effort to weaken the powerful political ma- cuine we have built up In this end of the county. To further discredit thi» report will say that on several occaa- lons lately I have loaned Capt. Ike my dress suit to wear to public enter talnmcnts, staying away myself, knowing that Capt. Ike could present u better front or at least more front than myself. In conclusion will say that we will both be found lined up with all our political power for the candidates who we think will do us the most good, and who have the necessary power to make old politi cians like us love them. Yours truly, J. R. Graham. At the Buford St. M. E. Church. Notwithstanding the extreme heat quite a large audience assembled at Buford Street M. E. church Sunday morning.
