South of Thlckety creek the hail of
last Monday was heavier and more
general than r®l»orted in our last let

were riddled nearer our home.
Mr. Ben Goforth has been working
out his roads since the rain and put

traveling public. We wi-h our neigh

his example.
Unless more attention is paid to
keeping up our public roads there is
danger of the R. F. I) mail routes be
ing change^ or discontinued entirely.
Bad roads an- a drawback to it. This
is not a mandate of ours but of the
general government which requires
the roads where the mail Is carried to
be kept in passable order, at least.
Only a very fe w of the overseers
seem to care anything about keeping
up their roads. They think the chain-
gang ought to do It all and the conse
quence is we get nothing done. If the
country tax payers can’t get some
benefit from the road law they ought
to worb for its repeal or for whatever
chJtnges is necessary to give them
some advantage of it.
